The Willamette Valley Winery on the Wild Side of Oregon Wine Country
At Lonesome Rock, our limited-production Pinot Noir and Chardonnay begin with place — high in the hills west of Carlton, Oregon.
Among the most northwestern vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Lonesome Rock is planted within a cool, sunny bowl at high elevation in the ancient volcanic soils of Oregon’s Coast Range. Rapidly rising mountains to the north and west shield the site from the early fall rains, while sunny days and cold nights create a sharp shift in temperature.
These combined conditions allow for an unusually extended growing season, during which the grapes ripen slowly and retain their natural acidity. Yields are naturally limited, resulting in small, intensely flavored clusters — a winemaker’s dream. The result is unique Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with depth, perfume, structure, electric acidity, and the rare promise of longevity.
Set apart by geography and microclimate, Lonesome Rock stands among the most distinctive Willamette Valley wineries — a beautiful, off-the-beaten-path destination just seven miles west of downtown Carlton, OR.
