The Willamette Valley Winery on the Wild Side of Oregon Wine Country

At Lonesome Rock, our limited-production Willamette Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay begin with a strong sense of place — high in the hills west of Carlton, Oregon.

Among the most northwestern vineyards in the Willamette Valley, Lonesome Rock sits in a cool, sunlit bowl at high elevation, nestled within the ancient volcanic soils of Oregon’s Coast Range. Rising mountains to the north and west shelter the site from early fall rains, while sunny days and cool nights generate a pronounced diurnal temperature shift.

These conditions lend to an unusually extended growing season, enabling grapes to ripen slowly and preserve their natural acidity. Yields are naturally low, producing small, intensely flavored clusters — a winemaker’s dream. The result: unique Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of rare depth, perfume, structure, and electric acidity — with exceptional longevity.

Set apart by geography and microclimate, Lonesome Rock is a distinctive Willamette Valley winery — a beautiful, off-the-beaten-path destination just seven miles west of downtown Carlton, Oregon.

The Essence of Lonesome Rock

We farm intentionally to grow fruit that yields wines of aromatic depth, vibrant energy, and distinctive minerality—each shaped by the unique character of our remote hillside estate in the extreme northwest Willamette Valley.

Aromatics That Speak of Place

Our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay carry a distinctive perfume born of elevation, volcanic soils, and slow ripening. The wines open with lifted, layered scents—floral, fruited, and spiced—that evolve gracefully in the glass, revealing the depth of our hillside estate.

Energy in Every Vintage

Sunny days with cool nights and a long growing season preserve the natural brightness in our fruit. This tension between ripeness and acidity gives our wines remarkable freshness and vitality, balance, and length—qualities that invite both immediate enjoyment and graceful aging.

Volcanic rocks and soil give minerality to Lonesome Rock wines

The Signature of Minerality

Fractured, ancient volcanic soils form the backbone of our vineyard. These mineral-rich foundations contribute to a subtle, mouthwatering textural finesse—an unmistakable signature of Lonesome Rock.
