2022 The Estate “Rows of Sharon” Pinot Noir

Our limited-production, estate-grown, extended-aged Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is crafted in tribute to the matriarchs of our family who made our path to Lonesome Rock possible. Each year, six standout barrels—chosen for their remarkable aroma, flavor, and texture—are given an additional five months of aging to reach their fullest expression.

From six exotically fruited and spiced barrels that were begging to remain in the oxidative environment of small, french-oak barrels for another 5 months, this wine exudes the freshness of a wild forest strawberry and Lonesome Rock blackberry cream. Feral, savage undertones, a muscular and concentrated texture, and ripe, velvety tannins will allow this 2022 to age gracefully.

With 2 separate picks on October 16th and 21st, the fruit was harvested by hand into tiny bins to ensure uncrushed fruit arrives at the winery. Meticulously hand-sorted and 100% destemmed berries are cold-macerated for 4-5 days, fermented with ambient yeast, and hand-punched down during fermentation. Transferred to 100% French oak (33% new) and aged in cold cellar for 15 months before a light filtration at bottling.

Our second vintage began with a long, rainy winter and an April frost scare that threatened much of the Northern Willamette Valley. High elevation and late budbreak spared most of our vines, and the season quickly turned into a roller coaster—from fears of a tiny crop to the largest harvest in Lonesome Rock history.
Summer was mild, with only a handful of days over 90°F. A warm, dry October delivered perfect ripening.
A wild ride ending in beautifully balanced, concentrated fruit—our 2022s are proof that farming really is gambling, and sometimes you win big.
