2024 The Estate “La Tramontane” Pinot Noir

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from our North Slope

“La Tramontane” comes from Lonesome Rock’s north-facing slope, the latest-ripening block on the estate. The 2024 vintage marks the first release of this wine and reflects our deepening understanding of the Lonesome Rock monopole.

Its name refers to la tramontane, the north wind, and to the slope’s northern orientation. Here, the grapes receive less direct afternoon sun and ripen more slowly and in cooler conditions than those on our south- and west-facing slopes.

Tasting Notes

Opulent black cherry fruit leads the wine, layered with crushed violet and lavender. The palate is silky and supple, with a smooth, lingering finish.

Winemaking Notes

The fruit was hand-harvested, hand-sorted, 100% destemmed, cold-macerated for 4-5 days, fermented with ambient yeast, and hand-punched down during fermentation. Transferred to 100% French oak (25% new) and aged in cold cellar for 15 months before a light filtration at bottling.

2024 Winegrowing Season

The 2024 season progressed at an even pace, without prolonged periods of extreme heat. As harvest approached, cooler September days and nights slowed ripening and gave us time to pick each block when it was ready.

That long, measured growing season preserved freshness while allowing the fruit to develop fully, giving the 2024 wines balance, clarity, and structure.
